UK Net Zero Building Standard
March, 2026 |
The UK NZCBS is an exciting cross-industry initiative aimed at establishing the first Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard in the UK. Leading organizations including BBP, BRE, CIBSE, IStructE, LETI, RIBA, RICS, and UKGBC have come together to support this important effort, aided by a vast network of dedicated industry volunteers.
The Passivhaus Trust has highlighted that the targets and methodology of the UK NZCBS closely mirror the operational energy and renewable energy generation goals set by the Passivhaus Plus standard. Additionally, they include energy use intensity targets akin to those of Passivhaus. The Trust asserts that adopting the Passivhaus Plus standard is an effective route to fulfill the UK NZCBS requirements while ensuring buildings are healthy and comfortable.
After working closely with the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, the Passivhaus Trust is delighted to announce that Passivhaus certification is a deemed-to-satisfy route in the upcoming Version 1 of the Net Zero Standard.
