New dwelling , Blagden, Hampshire
When Ajay Boardman had the opportunity to build on a plot of land that was part of the family farm she decided to plunge right in. Having found carpenter Nigel Bowley to help build the timber frame, it seemed natural that, being a practical person who didn’t have a job at the time, Ajay herself would take on the role of project manager and labourer.
The house sits within the South Downs National Park and was designed by Blunn Architects. The roof mounted PV means the house will meet the Passivhaus Plus standard.
Passivhaus and Carbon/Energy statistics:

A snapshot of progress on Blagden where Ajay used her own labour to introduce sweat equity to the project, and see the approach she has used in making the project work. She is building the shell of a 260m² house with just 2 full time people (herself and carpenter Nigel) plus occasional help.
